Quick Craft : Hair Elastics Holder

With two little girls in the house we have amassed an overwhelmingly large arsenal of hair accessories. They hang from the walls, fill drawers and spill out over the counter in every bathroom. We have lots of cute storage for things that clip or can be hung, but for your basic ponytail elastics there just isn't much to do beside toss them in a drawer.

This Quick Craft is a very simple and super fast to make storage solution to get those cute elastics out of the drawer so they will be seen and worn. I use ours to hold all the nice elastics with flowers on them.

All you need for this project is a paper towel tube, hot glue, packing tape, felt in your color choice, and something to stuff inside the tube (I used brown paper but grocery bags or newspaper would work just as well.)

Take whatever you've got to stuff the tube and pack it in tight. This will keep the tube from getting crushed in use. Tape off both ends to keep your stuffing from falling out. Cut your felt to size, wrap around the tube and glue in place. Arrange your hair elastics and that's it, you're done!

I found a little basket to set ours in or you could glue a piece of cardboard to one end as a base to help it stand.

Diamond Candles

Today I share with you one of my favorite things, Diamond Candles. I watch for good deals and then buy a couple more each time. These have great scents that fill a whole house and come with a neat surprise ring inside each one. The video is of me getting one of my rings out of the candle. I currently own 10 candles and I've given away 3 as gifts, that is how much I love them! I have Cupcake, Rosewood, Summer Time, Carnival Candy, Cinnamon Roll, Fresh Cut Grass, Hawaiian Coconut, Sunwashed, Tropical Retreat, and Caramel Apple Cider. My favorite is Sunwashed with its wonderful clean scent. The only one I don't particularly like so is Tropical Retreat. I bought Gingerbread Latte and 2 Pecan Pie candles as gifts and they both smell scrumptious as well.

Oh and speaking of deals on these awesome candles, right now you can get 10% off your first purchase through the end of March by using code SPRING. http://www.diamondcandles.com/

Eggies

I tend to buy a lot of weird little contraptions to use around the house. I own a few of those As Seen On TV pieces of junk. I swear I only buy the ones I honestly think might work or truly seem like a neat idea. With that in mind I bought the Eggies Hard Boiled Egg System several months ago. I normally ruin boiled eggs trying to peal them so I thought, what's the harm in trying these out?

Well I tried them and they were such an epic fail I didn't even bother taking pictures of the results. Let's just say I could have gotten better looking eggs throwing hard boiled eggs at the wall. Not to mention they are impossible to oil before use and terrible to clean after.

So why 'egg'xactly am I writing a blog about these awful contraptions you might ask? The answer is simple, Easter eggs! My hope is to try these out with Jell-O for giggler eggs. I know they sell silicone sets, which I tried once and they leaked, so I figured these may actually be perfect since the screw together to avoid said leakage.

I'm sharing in advance of my trial this time in case anyone else wants to give these a go and share your results as well. I'll post again as soon as I have some, hopefully more successful, none chicken egg versions of these to share.
