Getting Crafty Spring Giveaway and Craft

A, B and I have been making some Perler Bracelets from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores Cape Discovery Spring Catalog. You can check out this and the other 72 featured projects in the catalog and get in on the crafting fun.

These bracelets are actually pretty simple to make, the only thing is that you need to decide on a pattern and map it out before you start. We really liked the chevron pattern in the photo so I figured that one out and made a little pattern for others to follow.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

2 packages of two different colored perler beads
1 spool of elastic string
1 needle (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut 2-3 yards of elastic string. (2 yards will be enough for a small child's bracelet)
2. Tie a slip knot around a small object to use as a stopper on the start end of the elastic.
3. Add 6 perler beads to the string.
4. Add 1 bead and put elastic through the 5th bead of the first row.
5. Add 1 bead and thread the elastic through the 3rd bead of the first row.
6. Add 1 bead and thread the elastic through the 1st bead of the first row.
7. Pull tight. Repeat the weave again starting with adding another bead and pulling it through the 3rd bead of the 2nd row. (see picture for diagram)
8. Once the desired length is completed (and your pattern matches up) the ends will fit together like a zipper. Weave both ends through in the same weave pattern to connect. Tie off and feed elastic ends back through beads and cut excess.

I think the bracelet turned out great and it's the perfect size for my girls (I can just fit it over my hand but can't wear it for long if I want to maintain feeling in my hand). If you made it a little smaller this would make a really cute ponytail cover, just slide a bobby pin through to hold in place. We will have to make one for that use next.

Influenster Palmolive® soft touch™ review

My first ever box from Influenster came this week and in it were two full size bottles of Palmolive® soft touch™ to review. I received the Vitamin E and Aloe varieties. One claims to be 'soft on hands' and the other 'for dry hands'. I have dry skin and eczema so I have to be careful about scents or additives in products. I tend to use lots of lotion after doing dishes as my hands become extra dry.

I decided to try the Vitamin E soap because it kind of looked like a big bottle of lotion. I tackled the pile of dishes I had been avoiding and enjoyed the light scent of the soap. It smells really good and doesn't linger on dishes so you don't have weird smelling pots and pans. It does leave just a little scent on skin which is nice. And my hands didn't feel any drier when I finished than when I started which is really nice.

Everything cleaned well, even the gross day old pans. We had salmon the night before and that glass dish was gross. I did notice while cleaning that the suds had a very slight slime feel, but it rinses off completely. I tried a little squeeze of the Aloe kind to see but it didn't have it so it must just be the Vitamin E added that gives it that feel. Didn't affect how it cleans and it rinses off so it's not an issue.

Of the two varieties I received I think I like the smell of the Aloe the best. Since they also sent five $1 off coupons to share with others I think I'll have to save one of the coupons so I can go get the coconut butter type to try as well! Cheese vs Cooktop

In case you were wondering what would happen if you set a bag of cheese on a hot cooktop I went ahead and tried it out so you could see the results. Just for you I did this! Okay not really I just forgot it was hot and set the bag right on the burner. When the room smelled like yummy cheese I suddenly realised and when I went to grab the bag, cheese went everywhere from the melted hole in the bottom of the bag. I must sadly admit to scraping off and eating far too much of the yummy crusted cheese. It really was tasty!

Yellow Cake Hot Coco

I love all things yellow cake. The smell, the taste, cooking it, eating it...so anything I find that tastes like yellow cake is pure heaven. So I'm going to share with you my own little creation of yellow cake hot coco. You only need two things to make this (well and water): butterscotch schnapps and french vanilla hot coco. Mix up a cup of french vanilla hot coco according to the directions on the container and then add in a shot of butterscotch schnapps (start with a little and add more too taste).

This is an alcoholic beverage, for a non-alcoholic version try using butterscotch extract. Remember that there is alcohol in flavoring extracts but alcohol is dissipated with heat so just make sure to heat your coco up hot before adding.
